Developed in close consultation with industry, the Master of Management (Information Technology) features a unique blend of academic and industry content. The course is designed for information technology (IT) professionals seeking to move into management positions within the industry.


Students commence with a study of contemporary management practices before selecting further topics from areas such as marketing, finance, IT service management, organisational change, strategic practice, risk management and more.


You will also select one of the available industry specialisations that are based on technical content from a specific vendor, institute or organisation. Specialisations are available in:


Information Systems Security

Networking and Systems Administration

Project Management

Systems Development

In keeping with the strong practical focus of the course, CSU offers credit for a wide range of vendor and industry certifications, including those from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA and the Project Management Institute.


What will I learn?


CSU's Master of Management (Information Technology) consists of 12 subjects. You will study seven core subjects covering topics such as contemporary management practice, marketing, human resource management, IT service quality management and strategic practice. You will also select one restricted academic elective; choose from subjects in risk management, finance, ethics and IT management. In addition, you will study four industry specialisation subjects that are relevant to the following discipline areas: Information Systems Security, Networking and Systems Administration, Project Management, Systems Development.


Flexible study options


Entry to this course is available to those with professional IT experience or with a Bachelor degree. All subjects may be done online without the need to attend on campus lectures or residential schools. CSU's subjects are supported by a host of educational technologies that may include video lectures, laboratory simulations and chat rooms.


As a part-time student, you can complete the course in between two and three years. You can fast-track completion by studying additional subjects. You can choose to study fewer subjects or take temporary leave to fit in with your busy work and personal schedule.
